Discovery Lunch is an opportunity to enjoy a sandwich during an accessible and popularised scientific lecture. All this can be enjoyed in the unique setting of this open-air conference room, with a breathtaking view over the Parc du Cinquantenaire.
Speaker: Anne-Françoise Martin, Royal Museums of Art & History.
Topic: Behind the scenes of the Art and History Museum's Amazonia collection.
The Tupinamba feather mantle (Brazil) is one of the masterpieces in the collection, but the museum also owns almost 700 objects collected in Amazonia (mainly feather ornaments brought back by explorers and ethnologists). We regularly receive donations from individuals who have spent time in the Amazon. How are feather ornaments preserved and presented? Why is it important to display them to the public and what can we learn from the experience?
