By 2030 (the date of Belgium’s bicentenary) the Cinquantenaire site is set to become a Belgian socio-cultural beacon.
Brussels residents and visitors alike are naturally drawn there with their families or friends. As soon as the sun peeks out from behind the clouds, the Cinquantenaire becomes the place to go for a walk, a jog , or a shortcut to work by bike.
But the Cinquantenaire site has so much more to offer! It’s steeped in history and packed with monuments, sculptures and museums commemorating the past. Taking a stroll through it is a way of suddenly wandering into times which are sometimes regarded as bygone…and it definitely stimulates critical thinking.
For many among you this place may already be a favourite hangout. The event Horizon 2030 raised the stakes with exhibitions to revisit the past and explore the future along with a variety of activities. Thanks to everyone who took part in this adventure!”
